Document Artifacts

Combine saved simulations, checkpoint comparisons, and analysis results with narrative and live model blocks

Artifact blocks bring a saved review result into an Architecture Document. You can place them between Markdown, callouts, diagrams, and live model blocks to explain a proposal with its supporting evidence. Open Documentation → Documents in the intended project version.

Add An Artifact

  1. Open a document and enter edit mode.
  2. In the content sidebar, open Artifacts and drag Artifact to the desired position, or click it to insert a block.
  3. Choose the Artifact type.
  4. Select the saved result or checkpoint pair and configure the available display options.
  5. Review the result and choose Save artifact.

Repeat this for each part of the story. For example, put an architecture comparison after the proposal, a specific workflow after the execution plan, and a risk review beside the rollout discussion.

Available Types

Artifact typeEvidence to include
SimulationA saved architecture proposal and its current/proposed states
Checkpoint diffThe difference between two captured states of one version
Project analysisA saved project architecture analysis
Risk reviewA saved review of architectural risks
Architecture insightA focused finding and its supporting evidence
Blast radiusA saved impact investigation
Architecture driftA saved architecture drift result
What-if analysisA saved analysis of a proposed change

Saved analysis results come from the selected version's Architecture Documents and your Archie conversations. The picker identifies the source document or conversation and the capture time. It follows the result's project and version, even if the conversation later moved to a different context.

Choosing a saved result does not run a new AI analysis. If a type has no results, create the relevant artifact with Archie in that project and version, then choose Refresh list. Use Load older results when the result is outside the recent sources.

Simulation Display Options

DisplayWhat the block shows
Full simulationThe complete simulation with its review lenses
Architecture comparisonThe modeled architecture
Specific workflowOne selected workflow from the proposal
ImpactThe available impact analysis

For a focused display, choose Current, Proposed, or Current and proposed. Workflow and impact choices are available only when the simulation contains that evidence.

The block is pinned to the loaded revision. To refresh it deliberately, edit the block, choose Update to latest, review the loaded revision, and save. A later simulation edit does not silently rewrite the document's evidence.

Checkpoint Diff Display Options

Choose two different checkpoints from the document's architecture version using Before checkpoint and After checkpoint. Capture them under History → Checkpoints first if needed; Load older checkpoints makes earlier captures available.

  • Interactive comparison includes the Explorer, a list of changed resources, and before/after resource views.
  • Change summary shows the captured pair and counts of added, modified, removed, and unchanged resources.

Both states are preserved in the block. The change sidebar lists only added, modified, and removed resources. Unchanged architecture remains available in the Explorer for context.

Live Evidence And Pinned Results

Use ordinary resource blocks for evidence that should follow the selected version, such as its current Data Model or a live Workflow. Use an artifact when readers need the particular result that supported a review.

The same document can contain both. Label the baseline, assumptions, and conclusion so readers can distinguish current model evidence from a captured proposal. Editing an artifact's display does not apply its proposed model changes.

Sharing Artifact Documents

Reference the document from an Architecture View and include it in the publication. Saved artifacts render in the published document as well as the editor.

Checkpoint comparisons respect the publication's document selection: captured copies of unselected Architecture Documents are excluded. Review all included evidence before sharing, because other captured model details are still part of the selected artifact. Checkpoint captures summarize embedded checkpoint comparisons instead of nesting an unlimited history of earlier captures.
